A more complete report on our Annual General Meeting will be found in our October 2013 PROBE Newsletter at the end of this month. We elected a new Executive for 2013-2014 and they can be seen in the photo above.

Please note that beginning next month (October), we will be meeting in a new location, the Grantham Lions Club hall on the north-east corner of Niagara St. and Parnell Road in St. Catharines.

We formed as a club in 1988 and were only the 12th club to form in Canada and formed only a year after the first Probus club in Canada.  Our club has launched two other clubs in the Niagara Region over the years – Niagara East and Niagara North.

As this is our 50th Anniversary year as a club, our AGM featured a slide show by Wayne Tester built out of photos from past Probus events accompanied by stories by a number of our members recounting events and other interesting information about our history as a club.  As a newer member, I really appreciated the great update on the Club’s history.

Our next meeting, to be held at the Grantham Lions Hall on October 8th, 2013 will have as our featured speaker – Steve Solski, the Executive Director of the Performing Arts Centre being built in downtown St. Catharines. He will speak to us about that development and the Brock University’s adjacent Marilyn I. Walker School of Fine and Performing Arts
